We are always aware of L. V. Beethoven's great musical art. Huge and strong musical forms evoke his style and genius. But deep inside his academic background, Beethoven loved classical music; indeed he started from there in order to brake the rules. These nice piano Sonatinas are as deep and as light as his approach to the classical music period. They contain the essence of his knowledge where he based his rules. They are delightful piano pieces, easy to listen to and also to enjoy. Of course a lot to learn from them. Sophie Clausel with her refine french taste, garnish this music little artworks with an innocent flavor that makes this CD highly enjoyable.

A native of Cannes France, Sophie Clausel received her musical training in Paris from Mary Claire Boules and Jean Paul Bordeaux.
Living today in Venezuela, she has held a professorship at Escuela Nacional de Música de Caracas since 1990, and since 1988 has served as University Piano Player at the University of Caracas. International recognition was established in 1987 when she won the Premio del Piano Romantico, and has grown through a recording career with over four recordings. Sophie Clausel performs frequently in major international halls and concert festivals. She conducts master classes both in interpretation of early piano repertoire and in interpreting the piano music of modern France.

Beethoven’s music has always been a mystery of strength and passion. Although his great symphonies have shown his powerful musical talent and mostly his chamber music has been labeled as dark or hard to listen, his violin sonatas are the exception breaking the rules bringing up musical delight to different listeners. Violinst Jaime Mansilla and pianist Emily Baker built up an awesome duet of performing excellency to create a magical environment for the “Kreutzer” and the D Major violin sonatas. Being an extraordinary recording is among the best ever.

A native of Santiago Chile Jaime Mansilla received his musical training in Catholic University and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh USA, with Daniel Heifetz.
Living today in Florida USA, where is an active musician and Concertmaster of the principals orchestras of the South Florida. International recognition was established in 1992 when the New York Times say of him: “Mr. Mansilla is a super technician” for his performances in Carnegie Hall, and has grown through his recordings and international tours for 30 countries, including the best concert halls of the world like: Carnegie Hall and United Nations in New York USA, Place des Arts in Canada, Mozarteum in Salzburg Austria, halls in Spain, Hungry, Poland, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland, etc. His career was covered for CNN, BBC of London and all the international press for his highlight: “the first concert in the world in Antarctic territory” in 1993 served like Soloist and Conductor. He has shared the stage with giants of the music such as Luciano Pavarotti, Claudio Arrau, Tony Bennet, Samuel Adler, and others. He was invited to play with the World Philharmonic Orchestra in Brazil under the baton of Loren Mazel. Mr. Mansilla plays in a old A. Stradivarius Violin crafted in 1701 in Cremona Italy.

A native of Portland Oregon USA, Emily Baker received her musical training in Seattle from Melanie White and Antony Ward.
Living today in Florida, she has held a professorship at St. Petersburg School of Music since 1999, and since 2001 has served as Piano Player at the same school. International recognition was established in 2002 when she won the Fine Arts State Festival, and has grown through her recording career with over three recordings. Emily Baker performs frequently in major international halls and concert festivals. She conducts master classes in piano music.

Sophie Clausel, French born pianist has dedicated time and energy to easy listening classical music research. She has recorded Beethoven's Sonatinas album (available also from our label) that shows the other side of Beethoven's musical knowlegde. In that way, she comes up with this CD gathering a unique collection of Sonatinas written mostly in the transition between the classical era and the romantic period of music history. It is a listening document where classical music becomes rich in essence and light in it's own reward. She plays delightfully and makes the piano sound and show through other shapes as she creates nice atmospheres in listeners. Very well recorded, this CD is a joy ... to enjoy.
